Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 12, 2026
Summary: Readible helps you read and listen to articles, documents, and books. We use account, subscription, diagnostic, quota, and content-processing data only to operate the app, provide requested features, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Readible ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Readible mobile application, website, and related services (together, the "App").
Some reading features run locally on your device. Other features, such as cloud text-to-speech, PDF parsing, recommendations, subscription quota, and video generation, may require secure cloud processing. When a feature sends content to a cloud service, we use that content to provide the feature you requested.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and Authentication Information
- Sign-in data: If you sign in with Google, Apple, or another supported provider, we receive account identifiers such as your user ID, email address, display name, and authentication provider details.
- Account status: We store account state needed to keep you signed in, manage deletion requests, and protect your account.
2.2 Subscription, Quota, and Purchase Information
- Subscription status: We use RevenueCat and the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to process subscriptions. We receive subscription events, product IDs, entitlement IDs, renewal status, and related purchase metadata.
- Usage quota: We store TTS character usage, video generation counts, subscription tier, quota limits, remaining quota, period start dates, and related billing-period metadata in Firebase/Firestore.
- Abuse prevention: We may generate and store hashed device fingerprints or similar device-derived identifiers to prevent repeated free-quota abuse across account deletion and re-registration.
2.3 Reading Content and Imported Files
- Local reading library: EPUB files, PDFs, text files, extracted articles, bookmarks, reading progress, downloaded audio, and generated clips may be stored locally on your device.
- Web article data: When you open, save, or share a web article, we may store the article URL, title, metadata, extracted text, thumbnail, and reading progress locally and, where needed for the feature, process the URL or article content through app services.
- PDF and document processing: If you use cloud-backed PDF parsing or extraction, file content or derived text may be sent to our Cloud Functions or related processing services to convert it into readable text.
- OCR and images: If you import or scan images, the image may be processed locally by OCR tools and the recognized text may be saved in your reading library.
- On-device TTS model: If you use on-device Supertonic voices, the App may download model files from Hugging Face after installation. Speech synthesis runs locally on your device after the model is installed.
- Cloud TTS: If you choose cloud text-to-speech, text chunks, selected voice, and related synthesis request details are sent through our secure services and may be processed by DeepInfra to generate audio.
- Recommendations and AI features: If you use recommendation or AI-assisted features, relevant text, URLs, metadata, or prompts may be sent to services such as Google Gemini to generate the requested result.
- Video generation: If you generate video clips, selected text, prompt data, metadata, and generated media may be processed by our Cloud Run video generation service and stored locally or temporarily as needed to provide the feature.
2.4 Diagnostics, Analytics, and Device Information
- Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage, feature engagement, navigation events, and general performance. Analytics events may include feature names, content type, and non-sensitive operational metadata.
- Crash and performance data: We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance to collect crash reports, stack traces, logs, device model, operating system version, app version, performance traces, and diagnostic data needed to fix bugs and improve stability.
- Support data: If you contact us, we collect your email address, message, and any information you choose to include in the support request.
2.5 Information We Do Not Sell or Intentionally Collect
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not collect precise location data for core reading features.
- We do not collect your contacts.
- We do not use your reading content for third-party advertising.
- We do not collect payment card numbers; subscriptions are processed by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or the relevant payment provider.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the App's reading, import, TTS, OCR, recommendation, video, subscription, and account features
- Authenticate users and protect accounts
- Track subscription tier, quota usage, and entitlement state
- Generate TTS audio, parse documents, extract article text, and generate requested media
- Save reading progress, bookmarks, history, settings, and local library state
- Prevent fraud, quota abuse, and unauthorized backend access
- Analyze app reliability, performance, and feature usage
- Debug crashes, errors, and support issues
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
4. Data Storage and Retention
4.1 Local Storage
Many parts of your reading library are stored on your device, including imported files, extracted text, bookmarks, reading progress, settings, cached audio, generated clips, and downloaded content. Local data may be removed by deleting it in the App, deleting your account, or uninstalling the App, subject to device backup behavior controlled by your operating system.
4.2 Cloud Storage
Account, subscription, quota, entitlement, diagnostic, and selected feature-processing records may be stored in Firebase, RevenueCat, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, or related service infrastructure. We retain cloud data for as long as needed to provide the App, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and support account deletion or restoration workflows.
4.3 Account Deletion
You can request account deletion in the App. Account deletion removes your Firebase Auth account and associated server-side account data where supported. Some anti-abuse records, purchase records, logs, or backup records may be retained where necessary for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or financial recordkeeping.
5. Third-Party Services and Sharing
We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the App and provide requested features. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Firebase and Google Cloud: Authentication, Firestore data, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance, hosting, and backend processing.
- RevenueCat: Subscription status, entitlement management, purchase events, and paywall support.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: Subscription purchase, renewal, refund, and billing management.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS/TLS, platform authentication, Firebase security rules, scoped backend tokens, and limited access to production systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
